Industry 4.0 has laid the foundations for innovation across manufacturing processes, and its deployment is only speeding up as integrated business processes and smart technologies converge. These are increasingly relevant factors in the changing environment we’re living in.
This was the theme of the #SAP ‘Industry 4.0 Now’ event, which exhibited the different SAP solutions that help companies digitally transform processes and systems in this field.
On behalf of NTT DATA, Javier Manso, from SAP Logistics, and Saturnino Checa, from SAP Digital, explained how the project was carried out in a leading international FMCG company. NTT DATA implemented a plant management system with SAP IoT, automating and simplifying mobility processes and significantly improving execution times. Clàudia Pascual, from SAP Logistics, also introduced some new ideas and examples of their application around the connected product and the connected site. These are important considerations that must not be forgotten within Industry 4.0.
According to Pascual, ‘Optimising and synchronising information in the connected processes and systems of all parties, including logistics operators, suppliers, factories or ports, improves collaboration. It provides information in real time and helps improve processes throughout the entire logistics chain’.
