“Meeting the needs of our generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.” These are the words used by the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) to explain what the main objective of sustainable businesses should be. Unsurprisingly, each organisation must combine a range of measures that take account of climate change, pollution, carbon emissions, and human rights, among others. In fact, those organisations who fail to do so will feel the consequences, and may not have a future at all.
Accordingly, NTT DATA is not only guiding its clients on the path towards sustainability but, under the umbrella of NTT DATA’s programs, is also developing and implementing initiatives that respond to these needs. Cloud migration projects are a good example. One of the main goals is to make the technology greener, so that the cloud’s operational efficiency does not come at the expense of higher emissions.
Our sustainability expert Valentina Losacco sits down with British journalist David Rowan to talk about it.
