Companies and organizations working with multiple operators and across multiple geographies in a digitalized environment know that large-scale change can be complex and challenging. Epson FCC is one of them. They came to NTT DATA to unify functions of their various different business areas within a common analytical framework.
As one of the world’s largest and longest-established companies focused on infrastructure, real estate and municipal and environmental services, FCC generates over €6 billion in revenue, and employs 60,000 people.
Long-term SAP users, they leveraged the platform’s capabilities for data warehousing, analytics, budgeting and reporting. Their systems, however, had reached a point where their ongoing evolution would be very expensive to maintain due to the scope of the group’s wide range of businesses. The inherent complexity of such a process meant they needed a transition partner with deep understanding and expertise of the SAP ecosystem.
FCC comprises some 3,000 companies and 70,000 business areas. The challenge facing the group was to unify the consolidation, budgeting and reporting functions of those different business areas, within a common analytical framework.
With information from the transitional systems being collected and consolidated every two hours to assist 850 business planners within the group, a huge quantity of data was being generated. With that in mind, FCC decided to evolve the system to SAP BW 4/HANA, SAP BPC version.
From the start, NTT DATA understood that the solution to handling such a complex and data-heavy landscape required a modular definition and deployment strategy. All valuable data and technical issues were ported to the latest version, breaking the solution down into functional blocks.
This manner of working allows for anticipating value through the solution’s evolution. It does so through partial deliveries, and reusing knowledge of the product, the new solution and the methodology acquired during the project’s lifespan.
SAP BPC version for BW/4HANA has proved essential to FCC’s deployment strategy. As you might expect, this methodology is not easy , requiring in-depth knowledge of SAP architecture and close collaboration between us and the client.
This is why NTT DATA was the ideal partner for FCC. NTT DATA has over 17,000 consultants, providing a wealth of experience and counting on numerous successes as a global SAP full-stack service provider of end-to-end digital transformation services. Join the (R)evolution.
